Kawena gets a valentine’s day card from Grandma Kathy

new things:
– occasional “free standing” for 5 seconds
– repeating one-syllable words immediately after hearing
– eating of tofu, avocado, beans
– once demanded kal-bi and ate voraciously (w.help chewing)
– more playing of piano and electric guitar
– now knows where not supposed to go when Dad says “AY”. Sometimes silently moves from restricted areas when dad comes by

Kawena has really settled in to the Auntie Lils care during the day. Note the cool stuff to play with, like wooden spoon, shoyu/mustard tray, and fast moving cousins…

Last Sunday, we went with Kawena and Hana to Demarest Farm in NJ, to pick pumpkins. We got to ride on a tractor/hayride there.

Hana picked out her own pumpkin, and so did Christina.

Kawena liked all the trees, of course, and got to walk around the fields. We even got some apples.

wena rolled over from his back to front Saturday, when we were in Prospect Park with Nick.

He was just playing and made no fanfare – cool dude.

Kawena got a new cousin – Nathaniel Kai Makana Goodness! Born September 9, 2007. Now Wena is not the littlest Goodness anymore.

wena progressing:

• better eye-hand coordination… moved from one hand grab to two hand grab
• finger control instead of hand control
• half-turn from back on flat surface, if trying to get something
• new play behavior– likes to do “push-ups”
• continues to enjoy water, baby pool
• continues to love to stare at the kiawe trees and sky
• often will “complain” instead of outright cry if wet or hungry
• continues to flirt with the wahines around town
• “schooching” around up and down
• cracks-up like crazy when we do the “stomping” towards him
• and is a real kid now, since he laughed like crazy playing at the beach, then cried like wild when we had to leave in the car to go home!
